Read how this workshop has impacted First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu:
Ever since the Ushers & Greeters DVD was made (2007), we have used this DVD as the centerpiece of our training program for prospective ushers. It has also been used as a course at the Hawaiian Island Ministries HIM Conferences the past few years. The 2 hour session is easy to follow and the fill-in-the blank workbooks match the DVD perfectly. The objective is to awaken prospective (…and current) ushers to the fact that ushering means so much more than merely passing out the bulletins and collecting the offering. When a visitor arrives, they have been moved to come – perhaps they don’t even know why, but once they arrive there are many things that can potentially distract them and turn them off long before the choir starts to sing or the pastor starts to deliver the message. This DVD will sensitize your ushers to this dynamic and prepare your ushers to be alert so they can recognize where to step in and make visitors feel welcome and also be on the look out for ways to improve their service to the congregation. I think you will find this DVD to be a good investment.
