PASTORING | Leading and Living Encounter Culture | Pete Greig
After 15 years of non-stop prayer in more than half the nations on earth, Pete Greig knows that encounters with God can revive the church and rewire the culture. His theology has been recalibrated around a ‘presence paradigm.’ Come and hear stories of answered prayer, explore the relationship between worship, mission and justice, and get inspired to build sustainable, enjoyable, transformational communities of encounter with Christ.

PRAYER | Contemplative Prayer: The Change That Changes Everything | Richard Rohr, OFM
Most contemporary Christians have had little training in the older traditions, taught already in the Desert Fathers and Mothers, called "the prayer of quiet." How does one hand over obsessive thoughts and feelings to the healing power of the Holy Spirit? How does one listen for the Lord by getting our own agenda, fears, and angers out of the way? Our day will include lectures by Fr .Richard Rohr, O.F.M, an experienced teacher in this area, plenty of time for training in such "mental prayer", and some quality quiet time for either walking prayer or sitting prayer. The day will also include a short history illustrating how Jesus exemplified this kind of prayer when he was in the desert and his places of solitude, how and why we lost it, and how it is roundly
being rediscovered in all Christian denominations today.

SEXUALITY AND YOUTH | Sexual Orientation, Sexual Identity and Youth Ministry | Mark Yarhouse, PsyD
We will discuss FAQs about the causes of homosexuality and whether orientation can change. Then we focus on sexual identity development as a key context for youth ministry to young people navigating experiences of same-sex sexuality. We end the day learning how to develop a scaffolding for youth ministry today.

WELLNESS | 24/6 Lifestyle: A Sabbath Prescription for Healing Rest | Matthew Sleeth, MD
Feeling frazzled?  Chronically stressed?  Like you don’t have enough time for the things that really matter? Matthew Sleeth, MD, shares how his family was dramatically transformed when it began adopting Sabbath practices and helps us better understand how our own lives can be enriched – physically, emotionally, relationally and spiritually – by adopting a 24/6 lifestyle. Participants will leave the intensive with an individual Sabbath Living Plan as well as a small group leader’s kit, including a free 24/6 book and DVD.

Pastor's Preconference Lunch. Pastors and a guest are welcome to attend a complementary lunch sponsored by Compassion International during the 11:30 am lunch break. Add the "Pastor's Preconference Lunch" ticket during registration.
