Did you know that…
TOM SMITH, our HIM 2017 worship leader is related to MARTIN SMITH of Christian rock band Delirious? Tom grew up watching "Uncle Martin" (brother of Tom's father) leading worship with Delirious in the tiny English coastal town of Littlehampton. Tom also nearly hit the big screen when he was cast to be a stormtrooper for the Star Wars movie Rogue One, but came up an inch too short in height when he reported for costuming at England's Pinewood Studios.
SUMO SATO, is not only in the West Coast Surfing Hall of Fame but was also recently inducted into the MARTIAL ARTS HALL OF FAME?! That's right. Sumo trained under Kung Fu San Soo grandmaster Jimmy Soo, and back in the day Sumo was an anonymous stunt double in unknown numbers of martial arts movies. Seems Sumo can both ride boards and split boards.
MARGARET FEINBERG takes like a duck to water when it comes to surfing. She recently has become an avid surfer. No wonder. Her father is surfing pioneer Bill Feinberg, founder of Oceanside Surfboards, the first large company of its kind on the East Coast and a member of the East Coast Surfing Hall of Fame.
DAVE CHOI is a wizard. No! Not in a Harry Potter sort of way but according to someone who prophesied over him. (Yeah, those SAT scores, Dave) More importantly, Dave is a bonafide, make-me-cry, I-wouldn't-lie, my-oh-my rapper. CLICK HERE. PAUL SHEPPARD and his wife Meredith, who have been associated with HIM since the 1990s, flew into HIM 2017 after being part of the surprise proposal/engagement party for their daughter, Alicia! Congratulations, Paul and Meredith! We're looking forward to expanding the HIM Family!
DON COUSINS learned that his son Kirk Cousins (yes, that Kirk Cousins, QB for the Washington Redskins) and his wife Julie are going to be first-time parents! Watch Kirk find out the sex of their baby! See the reaction of their former only child, dog Bentley.
TOBY KIM, who played electric guitar in our HIM 2017 worship band, has superpowers. He's played back-up for pop boy-band One Direction as well as with Christian songwriter and worship leader Phil Wickham. And we got to worship with Toby LIVE for three days! #RealTime
BRANDON AHU, our HIM 2017 co-emcee is blessed!!! He and his wife Kara welcomed Alana Hope Kekahililani Von Yuk Ha Ahu on March 26th - days after HIM 2017! Congratulations, Brandon and Kara!
JIM BURNS, our in-house HIM parenting expert for more than 30 years went home after HIM 2017 to a new member of the family. Meet Miloh, Jim and Kathy Burns' Golden Retriever puppy. Awwww!
