You Are Brave

Whatever you are doing today, you are brave.

Whether you are going into work, working remotely, or not working because you were laid off or furloughed; or if you're home with your children because their schools are closed: you are brave.

If you are an essential personal, a health worker who puts yourself at risk caring for the sick, a restaurant worker filling take-out orders, a grocery store clerk keeping the shelves stocked: you are brave.

If you are a public transportation driver, airline employee, USPS, UPS or FedEx driver, government worker or elected official keeping your city, town or state functioning: you are brave.

If you are a student - an elementary, middle or high school student: you are brave. No young people in recent memory have ever had to do this or face this before.

If you are a senior citizen, a Boomer or one of the "Greatest Generation," who has lived through wars, made it before through hard economic times in the 1930's and 1940's, raised children and grandchildren to a greater hope: you are brave.

Whatever you are doing today, you are brave.

We are brave. Apart and together.

Never before has the whole world had to stand against a common threat like the coronavirus. But never before have we had the ability to support and encourage one another across the globe despite isolation.

What can we do together, yet apart

  • Look up. Wake up in the morning and seek God. He is always here, with us. Sometimes, we just forget to remember that.

  • Look back. Before going to bed, thank God for where and how he has shown his goodness in kindness in the small things as well as the grand.

  • Look forward. Remember God's promises. This is a fearful time for many. We cannot see the future as clearly as we did a month ago, a year ago. But God is faithful. We can count on him. We read in Hebrews 13:8: Jesus Christ is the same today, tomorrow and forever.

Many of us thought we would be gathered this weekend at HIM 2020. We can still gather in spirit, realizing that as we look up, back and forward, others are, too. We can, this weekend, carry God's goodness, his faithfulness, his love and his presence and be The Body of Christ. Let's cover the world in prayer.

We are brave.
